  1. I took a 23.97fps Xvid and Encoded it at the same fps in tmpgenc but to MPEG2 DVD standard, I also used pulldown to play the movie at 29.97 fps

The Movie for the better part plays lustfully but every now and then it stutters oh so slightly.

    does anyone know why?

I have played it both on my pc and through a sigma xcard to the TV

The stuttering is the result of converting a 23 fps movie to a 29 fps (i use AviFix). You have to convert the divx avi first to 29 fps. Rip the sound in virtualdub and convert that to 29 fps too (with BeSweet). Then encode in TMPGEnc to a DVD MPG. I found this info on doom9's site and in the guides here. It helped for me.

err no you dont, alot of ntsc movies are encoded at 23.97 fps then use 3:2 pulldown to play at 29.97fps.

like i said teh movie for most part plays flawlessley its just every now and then there is a slight motion stutter.

what you are describing is overkill surely
