  1. Ok, I have 2 different problems and rather than waste space posting 2 topics, I'll just include both problems here in one nice neat little post.

Both movie problems are, as stated in the subject heading, Di$ney movies.

The first movie problem is using clonedvd to create a backup of Beauty and the Beast special edition. I wanted to have the main movie and the menus and maybe an extra feature or 2 as long as the size didnt get to big. If anyone knows about this dvd, it has a ton of previews in the beginning. And if anyone knows about CloneDVD they would know that if you deselect feature sets, you get a blank grey screen which isnt really that bothersome...unless you get about 5 of them in a row BEFORE the menu even appears!!! My problem is that I dont know how I can deselct these previews and have the program go straight to the menu... The blank grey screens have to be skipped past to get to the main menu and my wife just doesnt know how to handle this to play the movie for my kid.
Its not like she's a moron, but that stuff can get to her...The movie and the things I want are on the dvd, but those screens are quite bothersome to me...SO how do I make the menu play first?

#2...The Lion King (its not supposed to be out til tomorrow but I work at a vid store so i have it. I bought a copy but am not allowed to bring it home til tomorrow...but I am allowed to bring home a store copy for 'managerial priveleges' :P )...I cant decrypt it.
At vts21_02 or something like that, it becomes unreadable. I thgought the copy I had was bad...so I went back and got a different copy...same thing...Its always the same sectors or whatever...so I thought it was my ripper (lite on) so I went to my friends house and tried...same result. I tried dvddecrytor, smartripper and dvdshrink to rip and nothing. Does anyone know anything about this? I checked the ignore read errors in dvddecryptor and still nothing!!! I am getting frustrated...

    So...anyone have any Ideas!!????!?!?!?!?!!?

1 -- you can ifoedit and make the menu first play .. its the same basic method used to get around the dvdxcopy warning (big thread here on it (or two))

2 -- cant say untill i see the disk -- how about copy the whole thing to your hard drive and rip from there

  3. On #1

Here is an IFOEdit guide that might help.

I really hate what they do with those discs. Another trick is to hit stop twice and then hit the menu button. If the adds are a first play thing, this would go to the menu. If you hit stop twice and then play, it may also play the movie. This all depends on how the disc was authored, and maybe your player.

  4. I had the same problem with my Sleeping Beauty movie. Maybe it is something that Disney is doing to the discs. Mine will do almost all of the movie and then have an error about 3 chapters from the end.

Yes, as the previous poster says, you can use IFOEdit to edit the PGM of the disk so it skips right to the main menu. This is the same procedure used on DVDXCopy to skip their warning -- so do a search on this forum for the exact procedure (it's something like Open up the IFO file, click on the second line to expand, select the PGM, go down to the bottom and change command of the last command to Jump to titleset menu. It takes about five seconds).

As to the second -- if you have it, I'd use DVDXCopy on The Lion King. DVDXCopy uses a different procedure to copy disks than Decrypter, Shrink et. al. It actually *plays* the DVD, so if the DVD can play, it can copy. I've been able to make backups using DVDXCopy on things that Decrypter could not handle. If you don't have it this might be a good reason to buy it (I use DVDXCopy for all my backups that don't fit on one disk -- no sense backing things up at less than full quality).

  6. well, I dont have xcopy so I cant do that...that proggy is really expensive!!

But the first thing i will try is the IFOEdit deal on the beauty and the beast...

I think Disney has figured something out...(re: The Lion King)

I know this posting is about burning DISNEY DVD movies. I just wanted to say I was able to rip and burn SLEEPING BEAUTY movie into a SVCD. I used DVD DECRYPTER,TMPGE & VCD EASY.

If it plays, it ain't a bad disk. Have you actually played it all the way through?

I'm getting the disk today so I can report back this afternoon on what I find in terms of backing it up.

  10. This is probably one of those good news/bad news things...

I had no problems using either Decrypter nor DVDShrink on my copy of The Lion King. So the odds are high you have a bad disk (I'm using Shrink 3.2, and 3.16 of Decrypter). Of course, since you work in a video store you can easily get another one (the good news).

BTW, if all you want is to create a backup for your kids (in my case, grandkids) you can just reauthor using Shrink and choose movie 35 (without the second angle assuming you want widescreen). This works great, fits on one disk without compression, and contains all the sound tracks. It's all I'll ever let my grandkids handle <g>.

Good to see you are not always very serious. I'll even assume it wasn't sarcasm (like all of those faxed dongles), but silliness.

The weather must be nice up there is CA.
