  1. I have a dvix.avi file and need to convert the audio to wav so tmpg can encode it.when i load the file into virtualdub i get the VBR error msg
    but when i convert it to wav the audio is 4 seconds shorter than before i did the convert please help a newbie

    If the synch in the audio drifts gradually, you can use Gold Wave Time Warp to adjust it. You may also have to adjust the pitch if it sounds too high or too low afterwards.

    Istead of using VirtualDub, try Nandub for saving the wav

    It could also be that the audio track starts 4 seconds after the video track (interleaved with skew). In that case, insert 4 sec silence at the start of the wav.
    I also recomment saving out the audio with "Direct Stream Copy", then convert to wav with some external ??? to wav application.
