  1. Hi, i read on a site that to obtain the highest quality with tmpgenc you should use the beta 12a (it's very old). Has anyone tryed? Or has any infos about that?

    But, that makes no sense. You really have to weed through a lot of stuff to get down to what you think is best.

    If you're the curious type, try some comparisions and then post back to whoever got you going what a load of toad doody that was. :c)

    It seems true, i can manage the settings of tmpgenc quiete well but i've never tryed with different version because i tought useless.

    I think you thought right. :c) No harm in asking about anything you read, though.

    One major flaw I see is that there is no way you can compare just by a screenshot of one frame. What matters is the overall quality of a running video.

    And, all this stuff is subjective. What looks best to you might not be how others see it and vice versa.

  5. 12a was very good (wasn't bettered until 2.54) and it offered free MPEG 2 encoding, but it doesn't offer all of the config settings that current TMPG versions do.
