I have just used BeSweet to convert my mp2 from a TV Capture to AC3. The AC3 is quieter than the MP2. Is this normal?

I have noticed that other programs such as Soft Encode and Surcode have areas for all 6 channels. How would I even get DD 2.0 if I only have one source file?

And the same question goes for BeSweet, does it create a stereo DD 2.0 file or are both channels exactly the same which would mean it is mono?

  2. With BeSweet, stereo in == stereo out. i.e DD 2.0

How do you make DD 2.0 with Surcode or Soft Encode when you only have one source file?

  4. FT Shark.

Easy ..In surcode..you just load open the file 3 times this then gives you 6 Channels (ie DD 5.1).

You can then change the encode settings, (i.e. Bitrate, pro-logic surround settings/volume, LFE settings) hit encode and eventually it will spit out an AC3 file.

Of course its not 'true' surround sound, as you only started off with stereo but I find it can certainly enhance a dull stereo track

  5. Ok A lot of people asked this question.!! You want 6 channel from 2 channel? It can be done It's the closest to true 6 channel You have to re-engineer the sound. This is what you need

A good pair of ear (I'm not kidding)
Alot of time (is it worth it?)
    Goldwave
    Soft encode or Surcode

First create 3 wav file from your source. I supposed you know how to create a wav file.
Next duplicate the wav to 2 extra sets(simple just copy and paste)
Load 1st set to goldwav (this would be your surround sound-back speakers) Here you adjust the bandwith to mid and low bass by using the filters and parametric EQ Cuts out all vocal option. You have to do trial and error method. Not really difficult. Bandwith not lower than 250Hz. A little leeway-played around with it. After adjusting all the bandwith, you have to increase the volume back in relation to your main sound from your front speakers. Again trial and error.Fortunately you can preview the sound .Didn't I tell you you need a good pair of ears!!

Next do likewise for the centre and subwoofer, adjusting the bandwith etc..
You end up with 6 tracks. Load into Softencode and mux into 6-tracks ac3

Steep learning curve!! Happy experimenting. Lets us know the outcome OK?
