I've been reading over these announcements of dual layer recorders, and something struck me as curious, and as of yet I've not seen it addressed by anyone. It seems possible that these products may be set-top only boxes, and will not reach PC drives, simply to quell the Hollywood Beast clamoring against the possibilities for piracy. While I would welcome the opportunity to do a complete 1:1 backup without any compression, I am satisfied with my movie-only burns. Any other thoughts?
