  1. Hi,

    I've got an SVCD image (.bin) that I can't burn (too big). I want to extract the video and demux it with Tmpgen.

    I extracted mpeg video file from the image using Isobuster (raw mode) but it won't load in Tmpgen (reporting "Illegal Mpeg system stream) or VirtualDub(reporting "Pack synchronization error"). Any ideas???

    The mpeg is readable by Ulead MovieFactory as:
    Video: Mpeg-2 Video, Field B
    Total frames: 101,349
    Attributes: 24 bits, 480x480
    Frame rate: 29.970
    Data rate: Variable bit rate (Max 2450)

    Also, WinSubMux analysis says:
    File Size: 784.01MB (822096912)
    File Type: MPEG 2
    Video: 480x480, 29.970 fps, 2450 kbps, Aspect Ratio = 0.6735
    Audio[0]: Layer 2, 224 kbps, 44100Hz, stereo
    Playing Time: 00:54:16,31
    Subtitles: None.

    Any ideas???

    Thank you.

    Neither VirtualDub nor TMPGEnc can read mpeg2.
    TMPGEnc can, with the help of PowerDVD; install PowerDVD (trial version will do) and TMPGEnc will use the decoder of PDVD to read mpeg2. There's even a special mpeg2 plugin for TMPGEnc.
    There's a special version of VirtualDub that can read mpeg2 - take a look under tools.

    You might try demultiplexing with TMPGenc
    instead of loading it into the encoder. File-mpegtools-cut&merge
    (unless that's what you did, it's not clear)

    Do you have the right Vdub ? VdubMpeg will read mpegs.

    That should fit on a 700MB CDR as-is
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  5. Thanks for all replies!

    Found VirtualDub with Mpeg support useful!

    Btw TmpGenPlus that has support for Mpeg2 didn't work: neither encoding nor mpeg tools.

    Ejoc: should fit, but I was burning on CD-RW (traxdata) and they stoped being recognized by the standalone player, so wanted to convert on to DVD-R.

    In the end used DVDPatcher and MPEG-VCR for demux

    Extract it using the 'filter m2f2 mpeg frames' option. Should work fine then.
