Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I own a pair of Colt 1911s that were government and saw use in WWII. They're basically the old school .45s as seen in "Last Man Standing". I also own a H&K USP Tactical in the same caliber. Like thayne's I've never had a casing stovepipe on me whereas all the Glocks I've shot have done this. All these handguns and I have a permit to conceal and carry in the state I live in yet I don't think I'll ever take them out of the gun locker. I just don't like carrying them around with me.
I like rifles more. I have a completely outfitted H&K G90 that's my favorite weapon. I've bested military sharpshooters with my rig, but don't let it get outI used to use it for deer hunting even, but then it just got so silly being able to down a deer from a half mile away so I bowhunt now. My collection hardly gets used other than 3-4 times a year I go out to the range.

Where I live its legal to carry handguns in your car so this kind of a post doesnt shock me at all...
the laugh was because it is in no way what type of gun the poster is looking for but is instead my favorite gun (sorry, thought the humor was implied...)

The arguments to keep this right, for the most part, are downright ludicrous with hardly any data to support the facts they put forward. Not that I'd like to see guns banned completely as I still believe in hunting game (I only hunt for food, not for sport), and I think handguns are sometimes fun to shoot in the appropriate setting (given the American heritage of the handgun as well).
Such as already been said here, owning a handgun does not necessarily make you safer than if you didn't. I say if you want to defend yourself learn kendo and carry a sword around with you. I think if you were facing a criminal and drew a sword it would just scare the crap out of them, even more so than a big handgun. Personally I'd rather be shot than hacked at with a blade

Hes obviously taking the piss (poster) . Or they are not allowed to physically touch the teachers. Or he thinks the matrix looked "real cool" and wonders if he can do that. Women never do these shootings do they??

This thread is getting out of hand. Seems like everyone with an opinion (however flawed) is weighing in on this one. Bowling for Columbine is a good film? Yeah, like Hitler at Nuremburg was a "good" film. Both of these were simply propaganda. You want to see just what gun control does? You need look no further than The United Kingdom and Australia for the answers. Since they enacted their complete ban of firearms, violent crimes against the citizenry has sky-rocketed - and I mean has jumped more than 100% (Australia has suffered even more, with a jump of over 500%).
In this country (the U.S.), interviews with jailed criminals have revealed the criminals greatest fears - that of confronting an armed victim and getting their asses shot off. In England and Australia, this concern has been removed (by legislation) from the minds of the criminals.
As for facts, here is one that that idiot Moore didn't highlight in his propaganda piece. When a state enacts a "right to carry" law (a law that lets citizens carry concealed weapons), violent crime drops dramatically.
I could go on and on, but this really isn't the forum for this. I could also cite the proper references for what I have said, but I don't have them handy. Anyway, even moderate searching on your part can easily locate them.ICBM target coordinates:

But we must be armed to fight the English off our land! Oh wait, we did that 200 years ago, we just haven't updated our laws since then
And I agree Bowling for Columbine plays too many unpatriotic notes.

Well this thread certainly has turned into a big bowl of politics
