I am trying to install a dvd burner on my friends computer and he has windows 98 and I am not familar with it, so I am having trouble getting the computer to recognize the drive. So, I need some advice on hooking this up.

Update the ASPI layer. Both Nero and adaptec have files for this. I think both are listed in the tools section.

Its actually a cdrw/dvd-rom combo drive and a dvd burner that I am installing for him. When I just hook up the dvd rom it shows up in My Computer but when I hook up both drives then neither one show up in My Computer. Why do you think it does this.

I am embarrased to say it, but I fixed the problem, trying to explain to my buddy what I am doing while I am doing it, I forgot to set the jumpers to master and slave.
