    Hi,

I am having no success burning +R disks with my new Plextor 708a. I am using "Shrink" to rip. I then use :"copy to DVD to burn. The only thing the info file says out if the ordinary is that it can't change book type to DVD-Rom It says its running at 8x and when done the disk is unreadable. Got 8-10 coasters to prove it. Now if I use a DVD-R 2x disk using the exact same proceedure, using the same programs it works fine.

Does anybody had any idea what is the problem ? I bought 25 TDK 4x +R disks and have ruined a bunch already. ijust bought 10 2x +R Imation and same problem. I know the simpleanswer is just use the -r disks, but I paid a premiemum (sp) for a Plextor and cannot use the 8x feature.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

    Tom

Well Tom, I have the same burner and TDK 4x and Memorex 4x are working just fine. Can I suggest using a different burning program? I use Nero 6 and haven't had a coaster yet.

Good deal, glad it worked. I' have found through years of trial and error that it's always best to try another program sometimes to rule out all variables. Take care!

  5. a3holerman... let me give you some advice

Make sure you have the 1.03 firmware that JUST came out for your drive and get DVD clone. It takes me less than 20 minutes total 30 at tops for some larger DVD's to make a direct copy of the entire DVD. Clone does all the decoding ripping and contains its own writing engine all in one...!

amazing results let me tell you what!
