I've been doing some basic authoring for a few months, and everything's okay except for audio sync problems. I have tried several fixes online that people suggest, and they never work.

My current situation is that I have a downloaded Xvid AVI that plays perfectly on my PC, but the audio is badly out of sync when I author it to a DVD. After giving up on that, I found the same file in DivX format. It also plays fine on my PC, but when I author it to a DVD, the last couple of minutes are completely missing (both audio and video)!

It feels like DVD authoring is problem-ridden. How do you fix stuff like this?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Stop downloading. :c) Sorry, but anything you come across that's available to DL, can have tons of problems.

It's not the DVD authoring that's at fault. It's those sources.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Remember, you have to tell us what you did, with what, and what happened, so we will know what to suggest. Or do you want your first response to be something you unsuccessfully tried two days ago.

    1. I downloaded an Xvid AVI file.
    2. I ran ULead DVD Workshop--created a project and imported the video. Workshop created the VIDEO_TS directory.

The source file plays perfectly, but the VOB file does not. This has happened before.

I tried it again with a different Divx file. This time, this sound was fine but the last minute or two was just gone in the VOB.

These are obviously source file problems, but there must be ways to correct them.

Thanks--hope this helps. If you have any specific questions, please ask.

Use Virtual Dub to scan the video for errors. There is guide on this site somewhere.

Anyone know where a guide like this is?

I found some specific guides, but nothing to simply "scan for errors", which would be great!

    Thanks,
    Brian
