    Sasarchiver,

The 401s I have originally came with F/Ware ES0E, and I have since set it to ES0G. In either case the writing ability has changed little. The results are fair in my case, though I have the ability to judge against a Ricoh MP5125 for comparison. Others have reported poor results on burning media.

4x writing to both +R and +RW is as promised. AFAIK there will be an improved version of firmware released very soon.

The drive will not allow for bit-setting to +R/RW media. This appears to be a non-event with this writer.

Stick with it and wait for the improvements in firmware. Lite-On will make sure it ends up a very capable +R/RW burner.

    Regards
