  1. Hello all,

I have captured video at MPEG-2 and MP3 audio (160 kbps). I would like to convert the huge MPEG-2 files to DivX, keeping the MP3 audio. My problem is that I am using FlaskMPEG and it cannot use the MP3 audio and multiplex it with the video for me.

    1) It seems that my options are to get the audio in a separate file and multiplex it myslef (how do I do this? Can you recommend a good program for this, and is it a reliable process - is it usually always in sync?)

    2) Or I use a different program which can deal with the MP3 and multiplex it for me in the original conversion from MPEG-2 to DivX.

I am quite new to all of this, and although I read up on it a bit, I have a lot to learn, and am not familiar with many of the programs out there.

    3) Also, I am getting an Archos AV380 in a few weeks, but I read that it cannot handle variable bitrate DivXs, does FlaskMPEG create variable bitrate DivXs by default? How should I create videos that are playable on an Archos 300 series?

    Thank you for your time,
    PAUL.

Have you tried Virtual Dub mod? Maybe you can load your video into it, save it as a DivX file, call it a day.
    Hello.

  3. I tried that already, but VirtualDub won't load an MPEG-2 file.

Pay attention, you may be tested on this material. I said Virtual Dub mod, my young Jedi.

  5. Yea what tommy knocker said. But what I want to know is, why did you capture the audio as MP3, and what capture program let you do that?

I only know of one program that will capture straight to MP3, but it doesn't capture video - it's audio only so I won't even mention it here...

What are you starting out with? Is it a single MPEG-2 file with muxed audio (i.e., filename.mpg or filename.mpeg) or is it a seperate video file and a seperate audio file and if so what format is the video file (example filename.m2v)?

If you have a MPEG-2 file with muxed audio then you can use DVD2AVI which will seperate the audio to it's own file and then give you a D2V project file for the video.

You can then use the EXCELLENT program GORDIAN KNOT to convert the video to DivX or Xvid format.

There are some excellent guides on doom9 website on how to use GORDIAN KNOT.

It has been a while since I've fooled around with DivX but GORDIAN KNOT was always the best suite of software (it is actually several programs that work together) to create your final DivX file with audio.

    P.S.
Are you sure your captured audio is MP3 and not MP2 ?
