Hi
am on buying a new dvd player.
And in my mind i have "Centrum Gemini 330"
mostly for the price and that it reads divx and xvid. (it says)
But is Div-x the same as X-vid in DVD terms?
Most of the movies these days comes out in X-vid format .....so thats what i want my player to be able to play.
Any suggestions?

As far as I'm aware XVid uses a similar (or same) compression algorithm that DivX uses. The difference is that XVid is open source. It's the same difference that MPŁ and OGG have. They're pretty much the same. The reason most people are starting to use XVid is because the open source codecs are much less open to commercialisation like MP3 and GIF have gone.
