Hi all - firstly, awesome site! V. Comprehensive and gave me a good intro for someone who knows nothing about dvd recording.

Now I have looked at a number of DVD recorders to buy to suit my purpose but so far I haven't come across anything that i think will do what i need it to, so i thought i would put it out to you to hopefully give me a hand.

i do a lot of casting for television so i record the casting sessions on dv tape then my plan was to record a shotlist of these from the dv camera to a dvd recorder (this might initially mean dvd-ram or a Hard drive). Then I need to chapter these so that once my dvd has been burnt i can easily skip beteen the cast and their individual takes. i recognise this is not a problem with dvd-rw (vr) or dvd-ram however because i will need to take this disc various places and i have no guarantee as to what their machines will and will not play then i think i need to burn dvd-r to be safe. my question is whether there is any machine which will allow me to chapter footage manually when burnt to a dvd-r format....oh and i'd prefer to steer clear of going the computer route.

so far i've looked at the Sony RDR-GX7, Panasonic DMR-E100 HS and the Panasonic DMR-HS2 but none look as though they can do this job...

    can anyone help?

    best regards - Ryan. [/b]

I can only help in recommending that you go back into your original post and change the title (subject) to something that describes the help you need. (Just click edit - go up to subject box and re-type.)

Many people skip over those titled "Help Me" etc. It could sit for ages.

I believe you'll get more replies if you try that.

    Good luck. :c)
