I'm thinking of buying one of these players, y spend hours and all the hasslle converting to svcd, if theres a player which plays em. Sorry, but i just can't beliveve it, someone plz explain to me, there must be some major downside to these players, there not exspensive, so thats not it.

  2. IIRC the KISS line (500?) plays both divx and xvid, and has a ethernet port to play direct from PC video too (or something like that). Look to the left under DVD Players, and do a search for those that support DivX (check box).

Maybe owner comments will be illuminating/insightful here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&divx=1&Search=Search&Submit2=Search ?

I can see people wanting them to not have to bother converting to VCD, SVCD, DVD complient files, but I wouldn't know if there's any disadvantages with those players.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.

One major disadvantage of my LiteOn LVD 2001 is that it doesn't know how to handle my old VHS tapes
OK, the real disadvantage is that it has problems with DivX3, but that's it!
Check out http://www.kitsapcomputers.com/lvd2001.htm for more details.

If your in America...I doubt you will find one in say....Best Buy or Circuit City...but the are available now in America. I went through this same subject before with a Brit who also mentioned Kiss. I tried to explain to his that Kiss is NOT heard of in America. I saw a UMAX DVX 6100 soon to be available in America....MAYBE Circuit City.

  8. Hi

This is what Liteon confirms the LVD 2001 does.

*At first, technically Phomaster LVD-2001 is designed with expanding
    features to support MPEG
format, initially of divx 4&5 and Xvid.

I have issues playing Xvid and divx3, but divx 4 & 5 are brilliant.
I also have major issues playing ripped DVDs if there is no menu (the film playing directly)

    Hope that helps

  9. I have been told (not seen for myself) that there are some major lip sync problems with the KISS Players?

  10. I have a Liteon LVD-2001 and it plays DIVX 4/5 and XVID with no troubles. DIVX 3 is problematic, so I convert them to DIVX 5.05.
