  1. When I try to capture from my vcr to my PC, I get a white flicker at the top part of my screen. I also get this when I try and play a vcr movie through my PC.

I'm using a 9700 AIW. When I capture cable TV I don't get this problem. Also when I have my VCR directly hooked up to my TV I don't get this problem.

Any hep would be appreciated. Thanx.

I think the only thing to do is
use a video editor to get rid of it.
Virtual dub has a filter that essentially paints a few lines black.

  3. Try different inputs/ outputs.

Fuzzy video at the sides of video is a problem with soem analog captures.

You may be seeing the noise from the vcr, though usually it's a jagged white line on the bottom of the screen. TV's don't show 100 percent of the screen like a computer monitor does, so you wouldn't see it on a TV screen. You can edit it out with virtual dub or TMPGEnc, but if you are just capturing for TV it may not show anyway.

  5. This is an often vcr signal problem. You will eliminate it only with a high end, top model VCR, such as JVC HR-s 9800U, or with a standalone TBC. I used to have those bouncing, jitter stuffs, even with original recorded retail tapes, and only full eliminate those kind of problems with the above mentioned type of VCR. I also found that onboard sound causes such problems, even with sound cards, try to tweak the sound, lowering the sound hardware acceleration and stuff.

    Good luck.

  6. Just to complement....
I do my caps also with an ATI AIW 9700 PRO, MPEG-2 DVD, and after purchasing the JVC9800U, all my problem are gone. That machine is a MUST for real perfect caps.

  7. Thanx for the responces.

    I forgot to say I'm using a JVC HR-S2911U. I've got it connected through a S-Video cable.

  8. I was getting that also from my HI8 tapes to get them to DVD. I captured the 2 hour tape many time to find out what worked best. Somes times it did not have the flicker just like you described. I kepted the file that did not have the flicker. I put in another tape and it does not have the flicker. I might just be a break down in the tape. I don't know but the ones that do have flicker are my oldest ones.
