I know the manual say's it can only create chapters if you capture the files with the program or import it from a Phillips recorder but i wonder if anyone has found a way to work around this.
I have a file that i have encoded with TMPEGEncoder and would like to create chapters.

  2. MyDVD stopped supporting chapters within imported titles since after Sonic MyDVD 2.3. It's really weird that they have removed such a key feature, over the last few revs.

You might want to look at another app like DVD Movie Factory ...

  3. If you upgrade to Sonic MyDVD 5 - as I recently did - you can add chapters without any problems. These chapters do not seem to add to the overall filesize either. And using the new feature Dobly Digital Audio in MyDVD5 Deluxe version - it seems as if you can add another 0.5 - 0.7 GB of video to each DVD (as seen by TMPGEnc when converting from avi-format). All in all I think it is worth the additional cost - even though I've only used it for a very short while.

Cons: MyDVD5 can apparantly not be used together with Roxio 6 as it prompts you to de-install this program when installing MyDVD5.

  4. It's about time, that's always been Sonic's biggest problem. Before, they only supported PCM audio which of course restricts the duration of your DVD. Frustrated quite a few people, believe me...

Thank's for the answers. Will have to wait until christmas then and get the MyDVD 5.0 version. Can't afford any more programs at the moment.

  6. I don't get it. MyDVD 4.0 that came with my Sony RW drive doesn't support DD 5.1 mpeg file officially, but I was able to put ripped commerical files onto it. The new 5.0 version now won't even allow DD 5.1 files in authoring.

TMEGEnc Author supports DD 5.1 but it lowers the transfer rate somehow.
