Hi,
I just converted a 700mb avi media file to a mpg file using TMPGenc.
The conversion took something like 9 hours, and the mpg file is now 3.3Gb in size! The avi file plays for 1 hour 50mins, but the mpg file plays for 5hours +.
How many 80min CDR's will that take and who wants to spend over 5 hours watching the same film???
Help please
Thanks

Filesize depends on bitrate and length of the clip. Are you making a VCD, SVCD or DVD mpeg? What settings did you use?
Your CPU is the reason it took 9 hours.
I suspect your file has bad frames, scan it with Virtualdub."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -

Funny thing is that I used TMPGenc to convert another avi file to mpg, which I burnt to a CDR, the went to play it on my DVD (plays anything) player, but the video stopped after a few minutes, and the audio continued! So I checked the original avi file, then went to re convert with TMPGenc, but guess what? It is now the same as the other media file I want bto convert. It wasn't before??
say la vie!
Thanks for your helpBob Heselwood
