  1. I hope my question doesn't sound to lame. What I'm doing is assembling various clips from different sources onto one DVD. The audio varies in output quite a bit. Is there a tool available to boost the volume on the clips that are too low in volume? Like I said, maybe this is a dumb question, but I'll withstand the attacks to get some answers.

It was a dumb question until you asked it. Now it is a very good question. Try Gold Wave.

  4. OK, so I took a crack at it. How do I alter the audio and save it in the actual video clip? It is saving it as a wav. file. I want to increase the audio (boost the volume) in my .mpg clip and save it. How do I do that or can I?

First, you make sure you audio (wave) clip you just made will be loud enough or you will have to repeat these steps again. If the volume suits you:

    1. Open TMPGEnc. Load the original video as input video.

    2. Load your new audio file as input audio.

    3. Make sure you have the correct template. If not, select Load and select the template. Name your output file.

    4. Press Start. The resultant file should have the correct level of audio volume.

  6. OK, you probably didn't mean TMPGENC Author, but that's what I use for my editing and authoring. Sure enough, it worked. I loaded the wav. file in there and it works. Any reason I can't do this? Or do i have to use TMPGENC for this. It seems to be working.

The only reason I cannot do it is because I do not own TMPGEnc DVD Author. Glad it worked for you, though.

Sure. Once you load your video into Gold Wave, select Effects-->Volume. Increase the volume by what percentage you think it should be. Select Okay, wait for it compute its new volume level. Save it to a wave....You know the rest.

  15. When I load the two files into TMPGENC DVD Author, it works great. When I tried re-encoding into a m2v file in TMPGENC PLUS after processing the audio in Goldwave, the audio and video were out of sync, any idea why? It works the other way, it would just be nice to have in one file.

The audio encoder in TMPGEnc Plus has always been suspect. It looks like they fixed the encoder in TMPGEnc DVD Author. Do you still need help?

  17. It works great in TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR so I will stick with that. I swear, when it has come to editing and authoring my DVD files, that was the ONLY program I could get to work for me in the first place! Once again, it has come through. Thanks again, bro, you are the most helpful guy I've run across here.

Thanks for the compliment, but you haven't run across the gurus: Baldrick, Sefy, Tgpo, Gees, et al. They make me look like a curmudgeon.
