  1. have been encoding fine for months using the guides on here, but all of a sudden TMPGEnc doesnt work properly.

After pointing the proggy to my AVI and WAV files and setting bitrate to fit under 4000mb, instead of combining the two as normal into a MPEG file it tries to create a m2v+wav extension.

What the hell is going on and how to I top it doing this

PS the output video and audio and individual streams is ticked and greyed out

TMpgenc can't multiplex mpg and wav. You must join it when you author.

If you want mpg and mpeg audio just select that
    in the wizard mode:

if not the wizard just select System(video+audio) and under settings->audio->mpeg audio

To give you some more info the AVI file is DivX 3 Low-Motion according to Gspot, and is a file I appended from 3 seperate AVI's using Virtualdub. Audio was exctracted and audio maximused and timewarped using Goldwav

tmpgenc CAN'T multiplex(join) mpv and wav. If you want one mpg video file you must use mpeg audio.

BUT you can still use the mpv and wav in your dvd authoring tool. You add the video and then add the wav source and author to a dvd.

When using any of the DVD templates in WIZARD MODE you have your choice of selecting either CBR or VBR with either MP2 (Mpeg-1 Layer II) or LPCM auido. If you select MP2 (Mpeg-1 Layer II) then you will be able to select SYSTEM (VIDEO+AUDIO)

Only when you select a DVD template with LPCM audio will you NOT be able to use the SYSTEM (VIDEO+AUDIO) option.
