  1. Hey guys (and girls)

I know I'm late but I finally got a DVDrom drive. The first thing I would like to try is ripping a DVD but everything is so confusing. I need your opinions... what was your first guide and which one do you think is the easiest to follow? I would just like to try ripping a dvd as a test to get the hang of it. Thanks

Depends on if your first is a DVD-5 or DVD-9

    See here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdripping
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  3. I had looked everywhere for software that fits my tastes when it comes to backing up my DVDs. I had tried almost everything and spent alot of $$ doing so. Funny after all the $$ I spent I preffer this free program that does everything in one. It really depends on what you want to do with the DVD>HD .vob files. I personally like to DVD>Decrypt>DVD2AVI>VD>AVI/Divx then burn the AVI/divx files to disks as back ups.

If you are looking to take that route I highly suggest DVX which is totally free software and is offered here:

    http://www.planetdvb.net/dvx/

its a all in one type deal and the interface is much easier to follow IMO than GordianKnot (which is what many others use). Also DVX allows up to 9 pass with divx codec which many others don't! If you want to check out GordianKnot also you can find it here:

Like I said I am not sure which route you are going with but here is another great guide for DVD ripping:

Hope something from this post helps.
