Hello,
I have looked at similar posts but none seem to be asking the same thing as i am asking.
Here is what i want to do, i'll give a rough example later. I want to be able to create a vcd/svcd and have a menu that will have thumbnails of the whats on the svcd. I am not looking for these thumbnails to be animated or to have chapters for the eps. What i would like to be able to do is to select part of an episode (like the opening credits) and use that as the background menu.
For example. A few months ago I downloaded a few buffy svcd's off the newsgroups. Each cd had a menu that had two items to select. One being the main episode and the other being next weeks promo. Up to this point I can do with nero without a problem. What i liked about the svcd's was once you put it in, the main menu used the opening credits of the show as an video or animated background instead of a still image. I opened the image file to see if they included the opening credits seperatly but they did not, they didn't even supply a promo, just one video file, so it looks like both the video menu and promo was both clips of the main video and the main video played without the promo at the end.
Thanks In Advanced for any help.

You won't find your answer by reading posts. Read the how to guides to the left. And by all means unless you have alot of time to learn then keep your projects simple.

give Nero Vision another try. they just issued an update v2.0.1.9.
http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.phpI said I'll be done in a minute. I meant a Microsoft minute. -
Not to difficult. This is what you want. An animated background or still in your main menu Am I right? Here go...
Load your avi (I assume it is a divx avi file) in virtualdub
Scroll to whichever part you want. Mark it and save as new avi(Do you want sound or no sound?)
If you want still do a video capture of the picture with BSplayer or Liquid Audio or any player that has a capture button. Then mux your still with a wav file in TMPG
Next encode to svcd with tmpg and finally authored with DVD workshop
with all the whistles and bells.
Forget about Nero
