hey there,
just wondering if anybody here has used external hard drives for capturing DV?
i've just got a laptop, and i have a regular 3.5" 80gig drive that i am going to buy a USB2.0 enclosure for.
i just dont want to buy the enclosure and USB2.0 pcmcia card only to find that the USB2.0 interface has some dodgy latency or something which causes dropped frames.
my laptop doesn't have USB2.0 ports or firewire, which is why i'm buying the pcmcia card. the pcmcia card that i am looking at has 2 x firewire ports, and 2 x USB2.0 ports on the one card, hopefully it can handle receiving DV on the firewire and writing the data to the USB2.0 hdd.
(the laptop itself is a P3-800, so it can process the capturing ok).
thanks.
