I'm doing anouther project for AP Psychology. I'm comparing SAT scores. It is my theory that 90% of people do better on math than on verbal.

Would anyone mind being a genie pig?

My score was 460 Math 650 Verbal.

    Math=560, Verbal=720.

I have a funny SAT story. A good friend of mine studied her pants off but she just wasn't very bright. We had all just gotten our SAT scores back and I asked her how she did. She said, 520 and without thinking I said, "oh on what section?" Then she started to cry and said, "Total." I felt really bad.

  4. Thank God I didn't have to take the SAT! I was able to get into college just by being able to afford tuition. Ah, the good old days!
I wonder sometimes just how effective the SAT is......
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

last time I took it, 630 Math and 660 Verbal.

first time I got a combined 1090, but I can't remember the individual scores (then again, it's been a while, I was 12 at the time).

I'll also put in that we were allowed to bring in a pencil and we had a piece of scratch paper - that's it. I couldn't believe when my sister was buying my nieces scientific calculators to take with them...

  9. I honostyl can't remember my scores. I only took it one time and my score was in the 600s on both sections, but math was higher. It must be close to tgpo scince I copied off him

No, mine were more like 680 math 600 verbal I think.

I had a friend that made an 800math 780verbal. No joke, he actually won an award from the high school. He only missed like two questions on the entire test.

I had a guy at my school who got a perfect score. He actually missed one question and then contested it and he actually proved how the question could be construed so that his answer was actually better than the correct one. They ended up having to give a couple points to everyone who had taken that version of the SAT, so he was a real hero at our school.

The dude was only like 13. He wasn't even in our school, they just sent him over for math. He was basically a Doogie Howser.

when I first took the SAT, I was in 6th grade, I got invited to do it because I was in a magnet school, and a few of us got asked to take it.

so I had to go get an ID card, then go and take the test, and everyone else in there was at least 4-6 years older than me - I felt like the biggest freak...

funny thing was, the only other person who stood out in that room was a metalhead in a Motorhead shirt and leather jacket, who I later ran into when my band played a few shows with his.

"dude, did you take the SAT at such-and-such high school? do you remember a real little kid taking it with you?"

    "aw, hell no......."

    ahhhhhh... good times....

Something like that happened at my school too. A guy missed one question and he knew what question he probably missed and contacted the SAT people and proved them wrong...he wasnt 13 but it was pretty impressive.

don't really take SATs here. ACTs are more common. Colleges around here ask for that score over SATs. I got a 24.

I honestly can't remember, but I have my test results in a box, somewhere. I got a 1390, combined. Both scores were pretty even.

  22. So what does it consist of, just all multiple choice or short answer or both?

We have the QCS test that consists of 4 smaller tests that we take over two days. Two are multiple choice, one is short response and the last extended written.

They only partially count towards your university eligibility though, for that we have OP (overall position) scores that take into account your grades from years 11 and 12 as well as how your school as a whole went on the QCS.

multiple choice for about 95% of the test, and they have several section, all which are timed.

The non-multiple choice questions are not verbal responses though. I beleive it is like drawing a mathmatical graph

  24. Funny SAT story, Don't remember where the scholarships came from (state or federal) but those who got really good score got $250 a year in cash during college. Each school district gave award to like the top 5% SAT scores. I lived in a really-really bad school district, lots of housing projects, etc so with my 900 (later a 1060) got one of these scolarships. A future college friend lived in one of the best school districts in the state (lots of fancy private schools, best public schools in the state, etc) and he did not qualify for one with his 1260 (lots of 1600s floating around that district). When he found out that me with my 900 got the scholarship but he with his 1260 didn't get one, he was incensed.

PSAT is just like a Pre SAT. It doesn't count for anything but it can qualify you for scholorships and advanced programs.

I took the SAT maybe 7 years ago and the actual graded portion consisted of 100% multile choice. There was an essay portion but it did not count toward your score. It was just sent to colleges along with your test scores.

    Ah. Yes. Thanks, Solar. :c)

I'm thinking of Scholastic Achievement Awards that were always held at the end of each year.
