right, its going to be not one of those again........ but i need to ask maybe a pointless question......![]()
I have this error from Virtualdub........
"virtual dub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatability. This may produce upto 7580 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder.(bitrate: 159.2 =21.7 kbps)
I understand that virtualdub does not like VBR. I have read quite a bit and know about audio sync and the problems people have.
The files are DIVX and i am wanting to burn them to DVD, most of the post are for burning to SVCD or VCD.
What is my best was of keeping these in sync before i start tearing these files apart with software that i may not need to use........?
There is alot of information on here about Audio Sync and Virtual dub......... but i got lost within it all......... sorry.....
Many thanks......
D

o.k my Audio is Mpeg3, virtualdubmod is still giving me that warning?
Maybe i'll give goldwave a shot? -
I always try calculating how many total frames are in the movie and adjusting the time warp in Goldwave to match. Works for me as long as it's a dropless capture.

if you are just wanting to convert an avi file to mpeg2 with tmpgenc, there is a very very easy way you can get around this, you don't have to use virtualdub at all or save the sound as a wav file etc. etc. etc.
if this is all you need to know, reply and i'll tell you how....... -
Did an answer to this ever happen? It may be something to help me out so would be very interested to know what.
Thanks -
When the warning comes up in virtauldubmod it asks if you want it to change the header to cbr , click no. Then in the streams list demux and save the mp3 file.
To convert this I use winamp with discwriter output to convert it to a wav file which will be in sync if you remux with your m2v file
