  1. This problem may be due to capturing or encoding...not sure.

I'm capturing a 2nd gen, VHS tape in EP of which the original source (master) is over 20 years old with my ADVC-100 and Ulead DVD Workshop. In other words, the source quality is poor but there's nothing I can do about that.

The capture looks bad on my computer screen. Too dark and the colors are off...too yellow. The darkness causes loss of detail...

I cannot seem to recreate the detail using color correction with TMPGEnc.
Unfortunately, if I encode to TMPGEnc at CBR 9800kbs with no color correction then my DVD looks worse than my VHS tape and looks pretty much identical on the TV as it does on my computer monitor. Contrast seems too strong, color is "off" and overall image is too dark thus causing details to be lost. When I say "off", skin tones look too yellow and bright red objects appear too red.

The ADVC-100 is using analog inputs (VHS) via S-Video and producing DV. I have ENABLED the "Output to YUV" on the TMPGEnc settings as everyone says that this is what to do for "DV source". Is my source considred DV even though it is origanally analog (VHS)?

Anyone else experiencing these problems? Bascially, I cannot even recreate my VHS quality on DVD which is pretty bad...and it's a pretty big difference. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
