OK here goes... Stupid me, i was trying to overburn a CD-R/80 about 5 minutes... I really wanted to get this vid on 1 cd, so i thought i'd give it a try...
But at 99% nero gave an error "Burn process failed" .. My burner didn't make strage noises or something, sounded just normal. So the tray opened, i closed it again to see whether it was readable or not... But he didn't like it, made strange noise. So i took the CD out, and placed it in my DVD-ROM, which also didn't like it. Ok, no problem, just lost a CD recordable, no biggie i thought.
But now it appears that my CD burner is fucked up after all, it won't read any disc anymore, the LED just keeps flashing on and off all the time. I can still open the drive, no problem, and it does not make strange noises but clearly it's disfunctional.
Ik know it was a stupid thing to do, but it was my first time trying to overburn.. just wanted to give it a try...
What i want to know: Is there anything i can still try to fix my drive or should i go buy a new one?
Thanks
BTW: it's an AOPEN CD-RW CRW4850
*EDIT: typo*

Did you call the company yet? And did you reinstall it?
Hello. -
Even if I've seen warnings that enabling overburn might damage the drive, I've actually never heard anyone experiencing any irreversible problems, beyond a scraped CD-R.
Have you swiched your computer off and rebooted?
Sometimes the ASPI layer gets really f*cked up by errors...
