  1. Is their a way to tell if a cd burner can make non stop music cds w/o the 2.00sec gap. I had one b4 and I guess I got lucky. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

This is a function of the software you are using, not the CD/RW unit. In Nero, just deselect the box as shown below and there will be no gap between tracks. This will mean it burns in DAO - Disc at Once mode (the laser is not turned off between tracks). Other software such as Music Match has the same option. I think this will solve your problem.

  3. On version 5, select all the tracks except the first one, right click and select Properties. Then you will find the dialogue box for the gap between tracks. It looks like the previous version is using V6, so it's a little different to what most people are still probably using.

  4. Yes, I have tried this and a pop up message says that my recorder does not have this capability. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

What program are you using to burn with? The example I gave above is from Nero Express v6.0 - audio CD. I haven't seen many burners that can't burn in DAO, some won't do SAO, TAO - but I thought DAO was pretty universal. What make and model of CD-RW are you using?

  7. It is more than likely a limitation of the actual burning proggy. Just about ALL CD burners except for some early model (as YEARS ago) Sony units can burn in DAO mode.

By burning in DAO mode, the burning proggy (and burner) can control how much silence is in the pregap from none at all to whatever you want. How much functionality you actually get depends on the software.

If you are using separate wave files, it is unlikely that you will get truly seamless tracks though you may not notice. What will usually happen is that the audio data in any one wave file will only fill up part of the last sector and the remainder of the sector will be filled with silence (i.e., up to 1/75 seconds of silence).

If you want truly seamless tracks, you will need to use ONE wave file and then use a program that can divide it into tracks when burning in DAO mode (e.g., newer versions of Nero and the old perennial, CDRWin).

    Regards.
