  1. Hi I am a relative newcomer to the whole DVD authoring and creation side of things having only just got a Superdrive a few weeks ago. Have been happily using DVD backup and DVD 2 One for a while to backup my originals so they dont get damaged. However I had an idea the other day that it would be cool to create a dvd with my favourite chapters from different movie on the one disc. I know that this is possible just not what programs I need and the actual process to do so. The other thing I would like to do if possible is to copy the chapters with the surround sound still available. Is this possible??

Anyone able to talk me through it.

I had a look through the forum and couldnt really see any relevant posts but apologise if this is a double up

dont know how this one slipped past me, but sure you can do this...

you would want to rip the sections you want individually using OSEX to your HD in a format where you have .m2v and .ac3 seperately

then just gather all of these you want to be on the dvd, and use sizzle to compile the new disk where each individual .m2v/.ac3 pair would be a chapter for this dvd.

    example
    chapter 1 .m2v / chapter 1 .ac3
    chapter 5 .m2v / chapter 5 .ac3
    chapter 7 .m2v / chapter 7 .ac3
    chapter 9 .m2v / chapter 9 .ac3

keep them named like this, so that you can keep audio and video tracks together.

then open sizzle, click AUDIO TRACKS, change to .ac3
move back to chapters, and add each video chapter in the order you want
then in chapters still, change the view/edit files for track to AUDIO
then add each of the .ac3's in the order of the chpaters so they match, and then when you get all that in there, go to DISC
choose your type/resolution then click CREATE DISC IMAGE.

  3. I'd like to weigh in on this discussion with a question. I too have been trying to make a compilation DVD (in my case I have several animated shorts on a variety of DVDs and I would like to make a single disk with all my favourites).

I have messed about with sizzle a bit and was very excited that it may be the solution for me as well. I would really like to create a "menu" or toc page that identifies all the videos that are available with a nice picture and button. I had kinda done this, but found that upon insertion in my DVD player I can find no way to determine which button or film I have selected (ie. the buttons do not highlight as you use the arrow keys to move from title to title). Is this just a limitation of the software or am a missing something? I cannot find anything in the sizzle documentation about this and am wordering if someone has stumbled on something useful.

I must say that sizzle is a very nice solution for those of us who can't use iDVD (external burner) and can't afford DVD Studio Pro.

Any insights on this part of the authoring process are welcome.
