I wondered if anyone would know why I cannot use these discs?
I am using Herries Latest 1.08 hacked firmware

They are just faulty by default
When I got my NEC, I got some Memorex -R and -RW disks, former for permanent burns and latter ones just to play around with and testing.
Those -RW disks didn't work for me either, all sorts of error messages half way thru burning and formatting.
I was able to return the disks and get the refund thou. Now I use Verbatim +RW disks for testing and temp burns. -
Hey, whats up with all these Memorex CD-RWs not working with your burner too. Crap, I just finished posting to someone else who had an A05, and the same problem. And you can count me in too, my dru was unable to as well.
Try this, it worked for me, bring that questionable disk to another computer with a cd-rw burner, write to it some files. That should fix it. Then bring back to your TDK burner and burn again. You should have no more problems. The brand that I had were Memorex Platinum CD-RW from Best Buy. Have been using them ever since with no problems. -
One cannot judge a product that does not fit. The drives mentioned do not have firmware that includes DVD-RW discs produced by Prodisc. That's why they do not work. Some might work with the default write strategy selected by the drives, but the error rates can by high enough that they trip up DVD players. It is also possible that discs that do not work in an incompatible drive can have such badly written marks that the the discs cannot be recognized, formatted, or erased in drives THAT DO have the proper firmware. That's not the fault of the discs. It's also not the fault of the drives--just a mismatch. The drive manufacturers may include these discs in the next round of firmware updates, but that's up to them. Calling the quality of the discs "a load of sh.." is like denigrating Pirelli tires because they don't fit on one's truck wheels.

I bought a 5 pack of Memorex DVD-RW discs about one year ago when I bought my Pioneer 105. They have performed flawlessly! I have burned these over and over and over and have never had a failure.

Memorex DVD-RW is the only Memorex product I could not use with my Optorite DD0203 drives.
I've never had problems with Maxell -RWs, but I never found a batch of Memorex discs that would work. -
Hi All,
Newbie here. I have a question about these disks..burned a backup of Revenge of the Nerd using DVDShrink to a Memorex-RW set it to Region 1 without any problems. Plays on my computer perfectly, but when I try to play on any of my DVD players (Panasonic, Toshiba, PS2) I get a disk error. Any ideas as to why this is happening??
Thanks
