  1. I have a XViD avi file with sound as AC3.
As far as I know, TMPGEnc cant load a Audio file that's AC3, so I took the sound apart from the movie and converted it to a WAV file.
After that I loaded the XViD movie with the WAV audio file and started the Frame Server. When trying to load the vdr with TMPGEnc it told me "can not open, or unsupported".

I have done this in the past with AC3 audio movies and had no problem...
    Anyone got a clue ?

    Thanks

  2. Yes I am familiar with that site... I upped the priority up to 10 (!) and still the same message.
Should I refer to the the Frame Server section to ? because I have no probkem starting it.

I would try to re-install the codec and be sure I had the most recent. I've had that problem before where it seems that the codec didn't get registered right for the direct show filters.

  7. I dont think that's the problem because I am abel to load the movie into TMPGEnc but not the sound, thats why I conveted it to a wav file.

Anyway, I'll try it, can you please tell me how to remove all my codecs ?

    thanks :)

  8. what codecs u using lol....welll i use lsx mpeg3 encder, divx fast/low compression (didvx 5.0.5). you unistall them from add or remove programs, but afterwards u should maybe go through ur program files to make sure it deleted the folders and files....I'm thinking here, but xvid might be different from divx but i dont put a sound fomat in, it doesnt need it, you just select ur output and start. i might be wrong in ur case...hope u conquer this terrible affliction lol...sasArchiver

OK- Sometimes there's a quirk with a .vdr file loading into frameserver mode that doesn't have audio. Here's what you do. Load the ORIGINAL xvid movie file into Vdub. Start your frameserver and save your ***.vdr file. Open this vdr file in the video input and your .wav file in the audio input of TMPGenc and see if that works for you.
    Dont uninstall your codecs.

Did you set-up the frameserver handler in VDub ? Go to Aux set-up and install. You need to have this to get frameserver to work.

Frameserving sends Raw Uncompressed video to TMPGenc.
all the discussion of codecs is irrelevent if Vdub can open the video.
The frameserver isn't set up correctly

But if the frameserver starts what can be wrong ?

When you set up your frameserver, are you choosing uncompressed in the video compression options ?

  16. You mean in: Video -> compression

    Then yes, it's on uncompressed.

Yes, thats what I meant. Does the frameserver work with any other file ?

  18. Yes...

I'll try to reinstall VD and TMPGnc.
I see they have no uninstall opiton so is it enough to just delete the folder their in ?

There's no point to un-installing if other files can be frameserved. It wouldn't work at all if it was a VDub or Tmpgenc problem.

If you just load the .avi file into Vdub and then try to convert to another codec (ie Divx, Cinepak, or whatever), does that work ?

  20. Look what I did;
I loaded into TMPGEnc the XViD into the Video Source and the WAV for the audio source.
Converted it into a SVCD. Every thing was fine.
Now, I loaded the SVCD into VD, and without touching (add any filters) it at all I started the framservere and when loading it into TMPGEnc I got the same messge !

So what can be wrong ??? a minute ago TMPGEnc conveted it into SVCD and now he cant load it ???

    Well ?

  22. tmpgenc cant handle mpeg2 as input (your svcd file) it converts other formats (xvid) to mpeg1 or mpeg2

However you can fool tmpgenc into accepting mpeg2 as input if you frameserve using virtualdub.

WHY dou you want to run the SVCD file thru tmpgenc (2nd time) anyway?? this makes no sense.. use your original files for input and adjust the parameters (output size too big??) lower the average bitrate.

I have rebooted and the handler is installed.
I dont want to run the SVCD again into TMPGnc. I wanted to load the SVCD into VD, make the changes and then framserver to TMPGnc (i thought if i would convert the XViD it into a mpg TMPGnc would get it) But I got the same error.

Anyone have any other suggestion ?
Thank you all for tring to help.

  24. As others have suggested reinstall the V-Dub handler. Go to auxsetup and click on it. Then click on install handler. Then go to TMPG and in the environmental settings and make sure the Direct Show Multimedia File Reader has a priority of one or two (no need to make it 10). Then try to frameserve your xvid avi with the wav file. It should work. Honest.

I would suggest the following experiment
Start Vdub abd load your file. Set Full processing mode for
    audio and video.
    start frameserver

Open the VDR signpost file with another instance of Vdub
See what the video information says.
If that works and reports uncompressed video and PCM audio,
then the problem is with TMPGenc frameclient setup.

Not all versions of VDub can handle MPEG-2 whick is what a SVCD is. Make sure you have the MPEG-2 version or it won't accept the SVCD file.

  28. jtommyj, I have Vdub with mpeg-2 support. the problem wasnt loading the file but loading the framserver of that file with TMPGnc.

FOO, I made a frameserver of the XViD, then loaded the vdr with another Vdub and got this error:
    "Cannot determine file type "e:\..""
