I purchased a copy of the Chicago Cubs Division clinching game against the Pittsburgh Pirates from Major League Baseball. The download cames as a RealOne file, which of course, plays fine on my computer.

However, I would like to watch the game with my parents at their home (we are transplanted Chicagoans). So I am looking for a way to transcode the file to either MPEG-1 (so I can burn a VCD) or MPEG-2 (so I can burn a DVD-R).

I know that RealOne media is proprietary, but maybe someone out there figured out a way to do it.

If not, I am going to try to connect the S-Video output of my Powerbook G4 to the S-Video input of my ReplayTV. After ReplayTV redigitizes it for me to MPEG-2, I will use DVArchive to transfer it back to my Powerbook and then CaptyDVD to author, compile and then burn it to a DVD(s).

Load Virtual PC, get EO Video or another PC Real converter, and convert to MPEG.

    .rm is indeed Real Media.

EO Video transcoded about 15 mins of my 2hr 40min file in over 2 hours, so I gave up on that approach. Thanks for the tip, though.

I went ahead and re-digitized it to MPEG-2 with my ReplayTV, as indicated in my original message, edited it in PixeDV and burned a couple of DVDs. It works like a charm, and now shows me that I can digitize other content this way.
