I have a DVD player that plays VCDs, as I have a bunch that I've boughten.
I burn a VCD with Nero, and it works fine on the computer, and the format is EXACTLY the same way as the CDs I bought... But it doesn't work in anything BUT my computer. I tried different CD brands, but all the same thing, even after the videos are converted to MPEG2. What in the crap am I doing wrong?

Check the DVD Players list to the right to make sure that you DVD can read CDR discs. As a test you might want to make an audio disc and see if it can read/play that?
If it can't then your DVD player can't read CDR (or that brand). If it can, then report back what software/settings you used to make the MPEG file, how you burned it, error message from DVD player, etc. etc.
