  1. Hi Everyone

I'm in the process of making a music compilation DVD.
Using DVD Shrink and its re-authoring mode, I've created the .BUP, .VOB and the DVD Navigation files. I have 9 files of each (as I have 9 music videos) and in addition I have VIDEO_TS.BUP(BUP file) and VIDEO_TS (DVD navigation file).

What I want to do is some authoring to create a menu and be able to select tracks. Now this is where I'm getting confused.

I have TMPGEnc DVD Author to perform the authoring. However, I cannot pick up any of the above files using this software.

I then used MPEG2CUT to create mpg files which show up in windows explorer as move file (MPEG). I can pick these up in TMPGEnc DVD Author but, however, there is no audo selected.

These MPEG files play fine in PowerDVD and WindowsMedia Player.

Can someone please point me in the right direction? Your help is very much appreciated.

In tmpgenc dvd author click on Add dvd-video and select the VIDEO_TS folder(or the folder with all ifo,bup and vob files).

  3. Hi Baldrick

I don't have any ISO files but the ones mentioned in the first post. TMPGEnc DVD Author doesn't pick up any files when I select "Add Video" or "Add files".

It does pick up the mpeg files but with no sound.

ifo files. No iso. DVD shrink should create ifo files when you shrink.

What files do you have??? list them all.

  5. Add DVD files!
There are 2 add file buttons when you are on that page.
One will let you select mpg files to add. The other (the second one) will let you select DVD files to add.

I think you go into the VIDEO_TS folder and select the .ifo file. Only did it a couple times myself.

  6. Hi guys

I've created the files again using DVD Shrink and put them in a folder called VIDEO_TS. The filed created are as follows :-

    VIDEO_TS (dvd navigation file)
    VIDEO_TS.BUP (BUP File)

    VTS_01_0 (dvd navigation file)
    VTS_01_0.BUP (BUP file)
    VTS_01_1 (VOB file)

    VTS_02_0 (dvd navigation file)
    VTS_02_0.BUP (BUP file)
    VTS_02_1 (VOB file)

etc etc for the 9 videos I'm wanting to burn.

I start TMPGEnc DVD Author and click on the "Add DVD Video" button and select the VIDEO_TS folder and this displays Title 1 to 9 and in the "Audio to use" pane it displays "Audio 1 - Dolby Digital (AC-3), 48000Hz, 6ch".

I click the "Next" button which displays the "Reading chapter information". I click OK and the "Add Clip" window is displayed. The "Clip name" pane and the "Video settings" pane show information but in the "Audio settings" pane the audio input file name is "unspecified".

Help! What am I doing wrong?

You probably have the stupid windows default file setting
as "Hide file extensions for known stuff" Go tell windows that
you don't want to be deliberately crippled and you want to see everything.
Control panel - folder options - view

    VTS_01_0 (dvd navigation file)
    VTS_01_0.BUP (BUP file)
I suspect the first file there is an IFO

  8. Thanks for that Foo! You're right, the file is a .IFO

  9. The old version 1.x of Mpeg2Cut has a lot of compatibility problems.

Try version 2 - Mpg2Cut2 - which resolves a number of issues from Version 1, and adds a number of new features.

Download the latest version of Mpg2Cut2 at
    http://www.geocities.com/rocketjet4/

If you are having problems with Version 1,
then give Version 2 a try.

For cutting VOBs, I recommend the following::
    - "menu - Output - Preamble - MAXIMUM"
    - Also use "PVAStrumento" from Offerynto fix timecodes..
