  1. I have been creating some dvds in the following way:-
Ripping original using either dvd decrypter or smart ripper only Vobs
Using ifoedit to make ifo and bup files
if dvd is dvd-9 using dvd shrink to compress to dvd-5 format
burning to dvd-r using recordnow dx
The dvd-r works fine when played in my pioneer dvd rom drive but when I take the disk to a sony dav 300 or sony playstation 2 it does not play. My brother has a datawrite DVD-R yellow 2x of Jackass and that plays fine in the sony dav 300 and playstation 2. On opening this disk on my computer I see that there is no video_ts folder (I think) I haven't got this disk with me as I write this. But I know for a fact that it has none of the Vobs (the one gig ones any way) visable to either explorer or dvd decrypter (therefore can't rip vobs)
How can this disk play and contain a movie if there is no files stored on the disk. I would love to be able to create a disk like that but my brother got the disk off a mate so he doesn't know how it was created.
It seems this way of creating the disk has a lot more compatiblility.
I am using Datawrite DVD-R Red 4x at the moment and a Sony 510 writer.
If anyone knows what is going on please let me know.

  2. Why do you rip only the VOBS n then use IFOedit, that sounds like a pain in the ass way to do it, just rip ALL the files and then use DVDshrink ..its much easier.

On another note. PS2s r very picky , I took a coolection of my DVD-Rs to a friends house last week, some played, some idnt, there seemed no logic to it, they were various brands, Datawrite yellows, Nan-Ya, Mirror x4

  3. The reason I only ripped the vobs for certain dvds was because the other files where not needed because I didn't have a dvd writer and used to convert to vcd format. I have tried various dvd-rs on the ps2 but no luck.
