Yes there is. HP bundles a utility to set the compatibility mode of the drive. Basically this is the Book type Bit Setting. When we burn a DVD+RW disk by default it will be marked as DVD+RW media. But DVD burners based on Ricoh mechanism can change this value to DVD-ROM.

Some equipment will not recognize RW media when marked as DVD+RW, but after the Book type setting was changed to DVD-ROM it will play just fine.

When burning with Nero (I’m using version 5.5.10.50) there is an option to set the book type to DVD-ROM. Just check that option and burn.

An alternative is trying to use DVD Info Pro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com) to set this value. I know this utility work with burners that have Ricoh firmware. I have not used it with the HP firmware 1.51.

The final option consists on flashing your HP DVD200i with the 1.64 Ricoh 5125 firmware.

I upgraded my HP 200i to this firmware a while ago and no problems so far. With this firmware the DVD Info Pro works great.

If you are interested using the third option, take a look at the following guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/174580.php
