    I have made from own DV-captures mpeg2 files with ac3 sound.
    I have installed a ac3 codec (ac3filter). I can play the files with mediaplayer and zoomplayer with sound, but with PowerDVD or WinDVD there is no sound.

    Maybe you've ticked S/PDIF output in PowerDVD?!?

    Check settings of PowerDVD!
