  1. Is there another forum where I can post to get my topic answered? My thread was about 'Pausing/Skipping'. This forum/site seems to be the 'standard' for getting information about authoring VCDs and the like. But it only works when posts are responded to. I replied to my own thread a couple times trying to plead for some form of help.

I've read a lot of threads here, and saw some great answers. I was very enthusiastic about posting and getting help. I've read threads where people would ask questions without clearly stating the problem. I tried to not make that mistake. If nothing else, I think I clearly stated my problem, as well as included as much information as I possibly could. I really needed a veteran to take a look, and offer some insight.

I hope I haven't offended anyone here. I know that every forum will have a few short-tempered veterans mixed in with the rest. I assure you I'm not trying to draw negative attention. In fact, half of the reason I posted this question is because I know there are tens upon tens of people that could solve this problem, and keep me coming back, maybe even in a contributing fashion in the future.

    Thanks for your time.
Software used (until you guys/gals enlighten me):
    DVD Decrypter
    DVD Shrink
    CopyToDVD
    Nero 6
    VCDEasy
    TMPGEnc

  2. Don't know about an alternative forum, but just been and found your original question/problem.

About the only thing I can think of is the framerate of 23.976 fps. I know this is perfectly valid for VCD, but it requires the player to automatically apply 3:2 pulldown to achieve a 29.976 fps playback. Just from what I have read in these forums, some players do this better than others, some do it particularly badly though I can't comment on your particular player.

Take a look at the downloaded mpegs that worked OK and check the framerate, use bitrate viewer for this. If they are 29.97fps, try re-encoding one of your avi's to mpeg-1 VCD at 29.97fps and see if that helps.

Anyway, thats all I can think of, hope you find the answer.
