  1. Hi

I am trying to burn a seriesof many episodes onto VCDs. i want to fit 4 per CD, but each episode comes out ~199 MBs, so the actual iso file size is ~810 MB, which Alcohol 120% tells me s too big, (over the 802-3MB limit, i think).

These MPEG files have already been cut to death =), is there any way to make the cd length less, or something I could do to the MPEG, maybe re-convert the AVI differently? These MPEG files MUST be VCD compliant, because my Sony DVP-NS 315 will not play XVCDs properly.

Thanks in advance for any help... This series has over 90 episodes [!] and having 3 per CD would really be a pain!! I wish my Sony could play XVCDs properly !!

    Thanks in advance again...

  2. I dont want to have to cut out parts i want to keep, does anyone know if my Sony DVP-NS 315 will play MPEGs lower video bitrate than VCD specs(1150)?

    Thanx again.

If you want VCD compliant, there's not much you can do to change the size of the mpeg than to alter the duration. All other parameters are fixed.
One cure for your problem would be to get 90 min CD-R. The only other option is to settle for 3 eps per CD.

  4. Try lowering the audio bitrate slightly, say to 192kbs. Although it isn't 100% vcd compliant, your sony may still be able to play it. My Apex plays at this bitrate without a problem. Maybe your sony will too.

  5. No i dont want to settle for 3 eps each, that will be a lot of CDs.

Ill try 192 kbps, maybe my sony will play it , but it had probs w/ 128kbps (but the vid rate was also XVCD so maybe that caused it...)

    Ok thanx

As always when experimenting - alter one parameter and try again!

    mujahid7ia,

If the ISO comes out to about ~810 you can try to overburn it. Most 80 min cd's have a capacity of 807mb so adding three extra megs shouldn't be a problem. But make sure your burner can handle it.

    Feh.

Fine, feel free to waste hours of effort for a 15 cent CDR :P

You get 80 minutes of VCD per disk, that's why they are 80 minute CDR's. You can attempt to Overburn, and you can get anywhere from nothing to 5% of extra space. It all depends on your burner and media.

You already stated 'They've been cut to death'. Sounds like they should have been 3/disk and not cut???

Where would I find out if my AOPEN CRW1232, and my media Phillips CD-R80 48x, could handle it?
Does Alcohol 120% have an option for overburn? if so, where is it located? if not, what burning software does?
    Thanx for replying

Well, I was exaggerating a little when I said to death. I wouldn't like 3/cd because that means more disc switching and each episode is only about 25.20% of 800MB, so it seems logical to barely fit it on there...

    Thanx all...
