  1. here's the story so maybe you can understand my question better:

    i have a cowboy bebop dvd and 3 of the 5 episodes don't work for some reason. i ripped all the files off of the dvd, and wouldnt you know it, episodes 3-5 are messed up. this may be a result of the dvd being scratched.

    now heres the question: my friend has those episodes backed up in MPEG format. if i were to take those files and re-name them corresponding to the way the other episodes are named, and slap a .VOB at the end, will the dvd work? please help! thanx!

    You should extract the good episodes, grab his episodes, and make a new DVD.

    agreed... however, you CAN take the mpeg files that are backed up and author them as DVD using either MMT or ffmpegX.

    This would avoid any re-encoding on your part and give you the results you are looking for.
