i've read some of the other posts, and downloaded virtual dub, when i open my 685mg avi file i get a pop up which says something like audio wasn't done properly etc.. the thing is, some points of the sound r in sync with the video, and in others its like 2 secs behind. I've never used virtual dub, so my queastion is how to i get good sync throughout the whoile file, i'm very new at this and don't know anything about virtual dub etc...

DJ You are welcome to help if you want
You/We need to know what you are working with. I suggest
getting AVIcodec from"tools" It will tell you what kind of
video/audio you have.
Report that and we can help

Hi and thx for ALL the replies!
Ok, i have a 3CD Movie.
Decompressor: Xvid Mpeg-4 Codec
Frame Size: 608x256 23.976
Sampling Rate: 48.1Khz
When played back, each CD is fine and perfectly in sync. But when i join using virtualdub it loses sync only towards the end of the movie. Tried with Nandub, even worse.
There u go..

Foo - I think Hutch is saying the"DJ" hijacked his post. He did same thing to another just like it. Then took it over as if he originated it.
(He then went on to slam me later for an innocent post.)
Hutch is just returning to find that out.
Hu-tch - at least DJ served to "bump" your post and get it noticed. :cD
even if it was in a sort of lowdown way.
Hopefully someone can help. Give as much info as you can and we'll try.
:c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

FOO and I both know what the problem is. You glossed over the problem:
when i open my 685mg avi file i get a pop up which says something like audio wasn't done properly etc.. the thing is,
As to a solution. The stock answer is RTFG.
However, try a program in the tools section called AVI2WAV. Extract the Wav and use that as your audio source. That is of course if your converting to MPEG2.
What you haven't actually said is you want to join all 3 disks of your pira....bootl...downloaded movie. That's a little more involved.
Bookmark this, no one else is going to repeat it.
1) In Vdub, direct stream copy the video, with no audio. Do this for each disk. Combine them in Vdub, you now have the movie with no sound.
2) Use AVI2WAV and strip out the waves on each CD.
3) Try soundforge and combine the WAVs into 1 wave.
Now you have the complete movie and the complete audio. What you do from here depends on WTF you wanted to do in the first place?
4) If you want a 2 GB AVI, then convert the wave to MP3 with BeSweet. Mux the Audio and Video in Vdub.
4a) If you want to convert to MPEG2, then load the WAV in TMPg/CCE/Mainconcept/Procoder/Premier/BBMPEG as the audio track and the AVI as the video track and convert. Optionally BeSweet will convert the audio for you. It depends if you want DVD or SVCD on how you handle the audio. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
