    I am a newbie and started using Audacity for editing some of my audio for the DVD. I found the Envelop tool and could select an envelop. I find nowhere as to what this does. Does it change amplitude or any other parameter as per amplitude of envelop?

    Look at the online help. Seems to be to do with controlling at what point in a track you start fading in/out. Never used this function though

    Fading start and end can be controlled by normal selection tool. I have seen no mention of this usage description in any of the Sourceforge pages. Going through earlier forum at source forge is a gigantic task as there are thousands of postings without any search facility
