Why do people keep using topics like "I need help" or "newbie question" expecially in the newbie forum. Obviously, your a newbie if your a topic starter in the newbie forum. people would probally get more responses if they would be just a little more specific with the topic header.

I do not know if specificity correlates to how many responses you get, but I do know it would be courteous if the poster took a few more seconds to describe in his title what his problem pertains to.
Hello. -
I think most are pretty young , and as we all know , young
people ain't got no sense . ....and definitely no patience -
That doesn't bother me as much as the e-mails, PMs and posts that would have easily been answered by spending 15 minutes looking at guides or the glossary. Questions that are not answered or are new are always great. Even if it is advanced information, though repeated because it's been weeks since the last discussion. But things like, "help me, how do I make my AVI a DVD" and "help me, can I copy a DVD" is irritating at best.
I only know what I know because I read. And read. And read.
Then I tested. And tested. And tested.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

some of the new 'guys' are just that though. a little advice on where to look is easy to give.
talking from my own recent experience i had a problem that was 'staring' me in the face and it was one of the members here who took the time to point it out. and yes i felt a little bit of a donkey!

yeh see what you mean, with that amount of posts under your belt you must be knackered! lol

The kids are grown and gone, the missus is asleep, and this is what I like doing, helping people.

My DVD writer is a real cutie...
You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off. -
It is not winking at you, that is drive activity. ARRRGGGGH!
Hello. -
I often ignore the "Help me" posts. Sorry. Take a little time to tap out a few more characters and you stand a better chance.
2 DVD18 to 1 CD guide:
Use DVD2AVI and down convert to 120x80 at 10fps. Then convert to mpeg1, non standard VCD, at 300kbps. Use anything you want to convert it, because there is no quality to start, so LSX would be as good as TMPGEnc. Then author and burn with EZCD destroyer, because menus will make it a better quality disk And print a lable for the disk, because once again, the artwork will make it a better disk.
There you go, my help for the day!Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -

Spell cahecker won't do know good!
First most of us are to lazy to use it, then if we do we don't know wich choice is correct anyway! So we spell the wrong word the correct way
Waist of Time, Sea what I meen
As for topics and searches? Yep, it would help to state in more detail what they need help with! There is alot I do know, and MUCH more I don't know! So if I see a topic I know, then I see if I could help, Just "Help me" topics I often skip same as those I don't know anything about. Unless I just want to kill time.
Course I do often read the ones I don't know about, I figure learning by other peoples mistakes is better than making my own
SO often I learn new things that way too, like I never used DVDshrink or ripped till I checked out a topic needing help. Now I am a Rip Master
As for searches, I use them! I never find what I am looking for, but I try first then post a question that has been asked 100 times before
I guess some of us just cannot think of good search phrases ??
That's why I hate using google and such! I will get returned 1,000 results I can't posably read all of them, or I get only 3. Either way Nothing ever applies to what I am looking for!
Ask a question, get a link, then I can often find 20 more sites with the same stuff using a search.
Like Solar Cells I get results like prisoners in CELLS with SOLAR calculators. Not quite what I wanted -

If that were not enough, its specifically mentioned in the rules that one should not use generic subjects. If people can't be bothered to read the rules or form an adequate subject, then they just aren't going to get the same quality of help from this site, and thus they are only hurting themselves. There are far too many posts everyday for me to read each one, so I don't even waste my time with subjects I don't know about, ie: Macs. So if I can't tell what the basic problem is from the subject, than I don't even bother with the thread. -
Let's just start a list of these ?
These are starting to become litter on the boards. Like Spam.
The subject lines are pointless:

If you would quit trying to slip your DVD writer the tongue, you will at least be headed in the right direction.
Hello. -
You can only ask an intelligent question if you have some idea what you want to do. Since most of the noobs don't have a clue, then they can't ask an intelligent question.
Basically if it's not d/l, install, point and click then they can't do it. I mean come on, d/l and install 3 seperate apps, and then burn the DVD? Never happen. Get in the wayback machine and look at MP3's.....exactly the same route as video is going.
Now throw in some problems.... Blah.
I bought these DVDR's off the net for 50 cent (no 's') and I get choppy video after I overburned da suckah becuase it didn't fit
Baldrick, how about a PHP filter? We can choose to ignore anyone with less than 25 posts or 3 months membership. Talk about practical, while slowing the site down to snails pace!!! LMFAO.To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
