Have you done a search engine search yet? I know there's a few websites dedicated to listing that info.

Search first here on the form, but I know I've provided a link to a site I used once. If I re-find it before you, I'll pop back with it.

last time I looked there was no free remote hack for my DAVS400 as most of the Sony's require a chip mod or a special remote to change the region code. You can buy remotes that make it region free and normally you have to return them

this is an example of a remote which is from the www.DVDChips.co.uk HERE but it's no good for you as you are in Switzerland

Not sure if this works with the DAVS500 but I think it worked on my DAVS400. all it does is display the region though as I don't think you cannot edit it (be careful, try it if you want)

1 - Turn it on with no disc inside.
2 - (ON THE EQUIPMENT NOT ON REMOTE) Press and hold both the Display and Stop keys while turning the volume control to the right. When your TV screen fickle, release the buttons. You should be seeing the Service Menu now.
3 - (Informational Only) Pressing 0, 2, 5 on the remote will show you the region your eq. is set to

that's another reason why I got rid of it, no free region hack , only option was to buy the temp remote or open the case and put a chip mod inside and void the warranty

Just did a search and found this post on another forum:

There is no Sony handset hack , it needs to be done by remote (FULL STOP) !!

I have a Sony DVP-NS305 and the Sony Centre where I bought it said they'd do it for me...for £49
