  1. I've been making VCDs but they only play in computers. They never play in VCD players.

    Methods used:

I export from Avid Xpress as a quicktime, compress to MPEG-1 in Media Cleaner (using the PAL VCD setting obviously), then burn to a CD (have tried both VCDeasy and Nero).

    Questions:
    1) Why do these VCDs play only in computers? I have tried different types of blank CD-Rs and CD-RW. These VCDs are intended to be used in Pakistani VCD players.
    2) Should I try a different program to burn or compress? Media Cleaner seems like the best program for compressing and it plays fine on the computer so I assume it is either the burning or the type of CD used.
    3) Are there certain types of CDs that are better to use for VCDs?
    4) Can this be caused by the CD burner? I'm using a Dell system so I assume it would be good. I've also tried burning at 1x. No luck.

My problem is that I want to give out VCDs that will play everywhere and obviously these only play on laptops. Thanks for your help.

Also, if I can't get these to work it might be better to just make multimedia CD-ROMs with the mpeg-1 files. Can anyone recommend a good, simple program that will autoplay MPEG-1 files? It would be better to have them as VCDs but my worry is that I'll be giving out VCDs that people will try on VCD players and they won't work.

    Mmmm

have you tried to play the vcd in your pc but open it with a vcd player (powerdvd for exemple).

if it work in your pc with a vcd player, i think the prob, is with your home dvd player.

    check it out
