  1. HI all,

See there are many ways to encode mpeg1 vcd to dvd, but since I am so lazy , are there any authoring programs that you can just drop an mpeg 1 vcd file into and it will convert it as part of the authoring process ?

..or programs that will will leave as mpeg 1 vcd but allow menu build etc. and then author a dvd compliant ?

    thanks in advance

  2. The DVD Standard supports MPEG1 video at 352x240 the only thing you need to do convert the audio from 44.1khz to 48khz. There might be programs that will do this for you, but it's a good bet they'll convert from 44.1khz mp2 -> 48khz PCM. Which might not be a problem if you have the free space on your DVDR.

I just demux w/ TMPGenc and re-encode the audio with Besweet GUI using SSRC. Then author as normal.

Baldrick was working recently on a nice chart that showed what each program can/can't do. So you could tell at a glance.

Not sure if it's fully implemented yet. If I come across it again, I'll post a link. :c)

    Found it: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdauthorcomparison.php

But, I'm not sure it's complete yet.

TMPGEnc DVD Author accepts mpeg1 vcd (and will re-sample audio for you)
must be 25fps or 29.xx fps though.
