Until now I have always purchased my media in Jewel cases. The prices on the spindled media is usually lower priced. This my be a coincidence, but sometimes it seems that people who buy spindled media seem to have more playback problems. Does spindled media tend to be more scratched/damaged then the jewel box variety? Or does it make no difference at all?

I have always purchased spindels and have not had any playback problems due to them being packaged in spindels. They way they are wrapped with plastic, I doubt that they do much spinning around during the time it takes till it is opened.

  3. I always use spindles, easily 300+ CDs, no problems.

I've actually had more issues with "cased" media, say Memorex or CMC-made Verbatims, that I have with "spindled" media, say Ritek or Optodisc Gold.
