Hi I always used Windows ME because it always seemed so solid with the Hauppauge WinTV 2000 card, but for the heck of it I upgraded to Windows XP and sure as I thought I cannot get WinTV to work in XP (this also happened a year ago when I tried it briefly as well).
First I installed their latest driver "whql337_21163" that is only for XP/2000 and then installed the latest WinTV console program. That driver was a NO-GO! I mean the console program crashed and wouldn't even load. So then I installed the slightly older driver that is compatible with 98/ME/XP and at least now the WinTV console will actually load up.
However, in the console where the TV input is supposed to be it is nothing but all black. I did channel scans and my VCR is set to output to channel 3, the WinTV console detected channel 3 however it gets NO video nor audio -- just black. I've kept the audio steady at LINE IN, but what was also strange is that the first time I got it to run it DID have audio meaning I could hear it through my computer (but always had the black video). However, now for some reason there is no audio and no video. Anyways, sorry to "complain" but it's like I almost thought this was going to happen, because I had probs last year with XP and WinTV, but everyone keeps suggesting to upgrade to XP from ME so I did, arghh..
Any pointers? Thanks.
