    Hello

I never had this problem before but it just happened twice.
This is the error that I am getting:

When I click on "OK" the main window of TMPGEnc pops up with all my settings intact but with the encoding STOPED at 76% as if I had just stoped it myself.

I should point out that this may very well be a problem with the source. I have an AVI capture (PICVideo MJPEG 19 setting NTSC 704x480) and both times I've tried to encode it I get the same error at the exact same point in time.

I'm doing a 2-pass VBR with LPCM sound (using the NTSC DVD wizard template). Both times I get this error at 76% and it just crashes TMPGEnc (well it sure stops my encoding).

    I have TMPGEnc Plus 2.5
    Version 2.59.47.155
    Core Version 1.92.142

I've been using this version of TMPGEnc for a LONG time now and never had this problem before. Since it happened twice on the same source at the same point in time I am suspect that something is wrong with my AVI capture file.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

    P.S.
I'm reading the AVI into TMPGEnc using an AviSynth 2.5 AVS script that includes decomb for IVTC and Convolution3D for noise reduction. Again I never had this problem before using these same steps.

  2. Have you scanned the AVI file for bad frames.

I agree, I used to get this problem and bad frames was the cause.

I usually use VirtualDubMod so is it OK to use that incarnation or is there a better version when scanning the AVI for errors.

Also should I check the "RAW" AVI file or load it into VirtualDubMod with the AVS script and scan it that way?

Also I don't see how this would affect anything but the original AVI capture was loaded into VirtualDubMod where I cut some stuff from the end and the start points. It was an original VHS video so no other cuts (i.e., no commercials). I then made sure direct stream mode was enabled for VIDEO and AUDIO and saved the trimmed version and this is what I now have ... the original untrimmed AVI I deleted.

I don't see how this process could cause an error especially at partway through the movie when I only made a start and end trim.

Oh well I guess I'm gonna go scan it now one way or another.

Well I tried VirtualDubMod on the AVI and it reported ZERO bad frames.

I'm pretty much mostly stumped now SO I loaded the AVI into VirtualDubMod by opening the AviSynth AVS file and I'm running that through the bad frame scan option BUT it is taking FOREVER ... much slower than real time.

I'm curious to see if it detetcs any bad frames this way.

I'll report when it is done but I'm going to bed soon so it will be sometime tomorrow I guess.

Well after running the bad frame check again (this time having loaded the AVI into VirtualDubMod by selecting the AviSynth AVS file) there are ... once again ... no reported bad frames.

So I don't know what to think.

I am going to try and frameserve from VirtualDubMod to TMPGEnc and see how things go that way.
